There can’t be many locations more idyllic for a cafe than where you’ll find Jasmine Greens Park Kiosk in Umina.
Nestled within a park beside the beach and native bushland, Jasmine Greens also opens out to a fantastic children’s playground.
Owner Gabby Greyem said the locals have embraced the cafe enthusiastically since it opened in July.
“I previously ran Jasmine Greens in a location a few blocks away,” she said. “We’re excited to be back, and it’s been wonderful to receive such a warm response from the community.”
Jasmine Greens has a sustainable, local focus and many foods are sourced from local suppliers, some of which are organic.
“Wyong’s Little Creek Cheese supplies our goat’s cheese. Our mushrooms are grown in Woy Woy and we source local hand smoked free-range, nitrate free bacon as well as local prawns and oysters from Patonga,” Gabby said. “We also have lots of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian friendly options on our menu.”
Gabby discovered the Cafeideas showroom in Chippendale, Sydney, after driving past on her way to visit her baker, Brasserie Bread.
“Cafeideas have been great to work with,” said Gabby. “I’d definitely recommend Cafeideas to others in the industry because they have a great range and offer good prices. They’re also ‘no fuss’ to deal with.”
With a brand new set-up for the kitchen and the cafe, Gabby purchased a range of furniture and kitchen equipment from Cafeideas. “I selected the best quality I could afford, from Waldorf oven, stove and char grill, to Hobart dishwasher and glasswasher, Bromic under-bench fridges and upright freezers, cool room and kitchen shelving, Flat Technology table bases and beautiful Australian made recycled timber stools,” she said.
Working with her chef, Ralph Campbell (formerly Executive Chef at the exclusive Pepper’s Resort Sublime Bar & Grill in northern Queensland), Gabby is looking forward to serving a fresh, healthy and delicious seasonal menu to the cafe’s many customers.
“Our popular breakfast items include french toast with free-range, hand-smoked bacon, Paesanella ricotta and maple syrup. Our organic and sourdough toast with Margin’s mushrooms and Little Creek goat’s feta has been a real hit,” said Gabby. “Eventually we will also host cooking classes, and we’re setting up our community garden in Spring. We’ll also be adding some bush food ingredients to our menu.”
