Spread the rumour...
It’s been a very busy year for husband and wife team Nok Yingprasert and David Smith who have opened their second eatery in just four months, on top of already running several successful restaurants.
Little Rumour Bar & Kitchen opened in Sydney’s CBD in November and follows the launch of Batch Burger & Espresso in Kirribilli in July.
“We named it Little Rumour because the northern end of Castlereagh Street is a bit of a secret location in the city,” said Nok. “It also attracts the lunch and after work crowd and we imagine there are always little rumours being discussed away from work!”
As the latest addition to their stable, Little Rumour is literally footsteps from Nok and David’s popular cafe, Batch Espresso No 1 in the Chifley Arcade in Sydney’s CBD.
“Because they’re opposite one another in the same arcade, it’s easier to manage both and share resources,” said Nok. “We’re famous for our gourmet burgers at the cafe, and so these are also on offer at Little Rumour.”
Apart from Angus beef burgers, Little Rumour serves up a host of lunch and dinner crowd favourites including chicken parmigiana, nachos, pizza, hot dogs, salt and pepper calamari as well as an extensive Thai menu.
“In the fitout, we’ve gone for an urban, funky look,” said Nok. “It’s got an underground feel that’s brightened by quirky and colourful chairs and lounges, with a few different spaces for people to gather.”
The restaurant includes a bar area, dining area and lounge with industrial-style wire framed lighting and pop art style murals. Foxtel is projected directly onto a wall, giving customers streamed entertainment.
Nok and David had previously purchased equipment for Batch Burger & Espresso from Cafeideas, and their good experience led them to purchase from Cafeideas again when equipping Little Rumour.
“Once again, Cafeideas’ prices were good,” said Nok. “They also had the range of equipment we were looking for in the new restaurant.”
For Little Rumour, Nok and David purchased a gas fryer, barbecue, griddle, range and burner, wok burner, combi oven, open stand and support, sandwich prep chiller, dishwasher, hot display, cold plate display, ice machine and undercounter glasswasher.
Little Rumour Bar & Kitchen is open Monday to Friday, 11am to 10pm. As an opening special for the month of November, bottle beers cost just $5 and mojitos are $10. Little Rumour is located in the Chifley Arcade at 4 Castlereagh St, Sydney.
