Chic brasserie proves popular in Gymea
The launch of The Vintage Point – Gymea’s newest restaurant and wine bar – brings a smart dining option to the suburb, which is located 26km south of the Sydney CBD.
“The area was ready for a restaurant that offers the complete package of delicious food, smart décor and great ambience, and The Vintage Point delivers on all this,” said its designer, Daniel Griffiths. “Two weeks after opening, we’re already making plans to add more seating to cater to its popularity.”
Daniel is Director and Head Consultant with Enigma Hospitality Solutions. He specialises in the complete design of restaurants and cafés, from designing the fitout to choosing and sourcing everything from equipment and furniture to plates and glassware.
“There was a very specific look and feel we were after with The Vintage Point,” he said. “The owner had seen some things he liked elsewhere that had been supplied by Caféideas and so I made contact with them to find out if they had what we were looking for.”
Daniel visited Caféideas’ warehouse and found it was well laid out, making it easy to look at different options. Sean from Caféideas put some combinations together and provided quotes.
“One of the challenges of opening in January was needing to ensure that we could get our goods at a time when many suppliers would be closed,” said Daniel. “Sean did the ringing around to check we could get what we needed on time. He assured me that everything would arrive on schedule and it did.”
Daniel said the restaurant looks beautiful and has given the area a real lift.
“The colours we’ve used for the perimeter walls are quite masculine with lots of greys and chrome colours,” he said. “I wanted something lighter to illuminate the centre of the space and soften it up. We sourced some fantastic white and cream chairs from Caféideas which do this beautifully.”
In choosing furniture for The Vintage Point, Daniel required it to be of hospitality grade, functional, aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. He said that all of the chairs, tabletops and table bases obtained from Caféideas met these requirements.
“Some suppliers really work with you, whereas others make it harder by putting up obstacles,” said Daniel. “Caféideas were great to deal with. Getting what we wanted was really seamless and everything went to plan. It made my life much simpler.”
Daniel said he will most definitely use Caféideas again because they were so easy to deal with, delivered on time and had what he needed at a good price.
“I’m really delighted with how The Vintage Point has turned out,” he said. “People are very happy to have something of this quality in their locality – there has been nothing like it inthe area before.”
The Vintage Point is open 7 days from 7am to 10pm and offers indoor and outdoor seating. It features a Modern Australian menu, serving breakfast, brunch (a fusion of the breakfast and dinner menu) and dinner. It is located at 92-94 Gymea Bay Road, Gymea.
